The Fair Grove Church of Christ is an autonomous group of Christians whose goal is to serve God following the authority He expressly gives in the Scriptures. We believe that the Bible is God’s inspired word and that He has communicated His whole will to us through it (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
Jesus told His disciples, “…I will build my church…”(Matthew 16:18) and He accomplished what He set out to do (John 17:4). A Church that belongs to Jesus must follow the pattern He gave us in the New Testament.
Who can be a part of Christ’s Church?
God wants all people to be saved (1 Timothy 2:4). He gave us the gospel of Christ so that we might have salvation (Romans 1:16). Therefore, anyone who obeys is able to become a member of Jesus’ Church.
How does one become a member of Jesus’ Church?
The New Testament teaches that a person must hear the gospel preached to them (Romans 10:17). After hearing, they must choose to believe in Jesus as the Son of God (John 20:30-31). It is required that a person confesses Jesus to be the Son of God (Romans 10:9-10). One must repent of their sins and “change directions” to following Jesus (Acts 17:30-31). One must be baptized for the remission of sins (Acts 2:38, 22:16; 1 Peter 3:21; Mark 16:16). When a person obeys the gospel, God adds them to the Church (Acts 2:47).
